Race delayed
Saif Ali Khan’s intense involvement over his own production ‘Agent Vinod’ seems to have affected his other projects. It is evident that Saif didn’t sign any new projects after commencing ‘Agent Vinod’, which is produced under his home banner of Illuminati Films. He was supposed to kick-start the shooting of ‘Race 2’ next year in June, which is reported of being postponed to November.Sources reveal that Saif Ali Khan has different looks for ‘Agent Vinod’ and ‘Race 2’. Hence it is difficult to work on both the films at the same time.‘Race’ was a box office blockbuster in 2008. The filmmaker duo Abbas-Mustan has spent 3 years on the script table for the sequel. ‘Race 2’ retains the same star-cast which includes Saif Ali Khan and Anil Kapoor, while Akshay Khanna will be replaced by John Abraham.

Louis Lambert
Louis Lambert is a French novel by Honoré de Balzac (1799–1850), included in the Études philosophiques section of his novel sequence La Comédie humaine. Set mostly in a school at Vendôme, it examines the life and theories of a boy genius fascinated by the Swedish philosopher Emanuel Swedenborg (1688–1772). Balzac wrote Louis Lambert during the summer of 1832 while he was staying with friends at the Château de Saché. The novel contains a minimal plot, focusing mostly on the metaphysical ideas of its boy-genius protagonist and his only friend (eventually revealed to be Balzac himself). Although it is not a significant example of the realist style for which Balzac became famous, the novel provides insight into the author's own childhood. Specific details and events from the author's life – including punishment from teachers and social ostracism – suggest a fictionalized autobiography. Critics panned the novel, but Balzac believed that it provided an important look at philosophy, especially metaphysics. As he developed the scheme for La Comédie humaine, he placed Louis Lambert in the Études philosophiques section, and later returned to the same themes in his novel Séraphîta, about an androgynous angelic creature.

ACTRESS DOES IT FOR DAUGHTER
Though Hemamalini’s daughter Esha Deol entered the filmdom long ago, she is yet to get a break that she deserves. In order to brighten up Esha’s career, Hemamalini decided to pen a story and produce the film under her own banner.
The gorgeous actress also signed up a director to handle the script deftly. But things turned sour between the director and Hemamalini as he twisted the story to his taste.
This resulted in a squabble between the producer and director and the issue was taken to the Producers’ Council. Now Hemamalini has replaced the director and will re-shoot several sequences.

SHIVA'S 68 NIGHT STINT
Shiva made his debut with Chennai 28 and soon went on to star in Saroja and Thamizh Padam. The actor is now awaiting the release of Va – Quarter Cutting, a Diwali release. Speaking about the efforts he and the team had put in the making of this film, Shiva said that they shot for 68 nights straight as Va – Quarter Cutting is based on incidents that happen on a single night.
It is indeed surprising to note that with this film, he has turned into a lyricist too. The actor had penned a few verses which directors Pushkar and Gayatri have retained.

Hip Recall Lawsuit
I recently read about a recall of hip replacement systems because patients suffered from pain and swelling. Apparently, some patients have filed a hip recall lawsuit against the manufacturer. I’m not very familiar with total hip replacement so I made a little research to satisfy my curiosity. I’ve heard a lot of different lawsuits, I even have a friend who sought the help of Texas truck accident lawyer
but it’s the first time I’ve read about hip recall lawsuit.
I found out that hip replacement surgery is performed when a person has severe hip damage. The damaged cartilage and bone are removed from the hip joint and are replaced with artificial parts. This can significantly relieve patients from pain, and improve walking and other movements. Hip replacement is an excellent option for people with hip damage and pain. Those who filed the lawsuit claimed that they have experienced severe swelling and pain.

Endhiran Opens the door
Endhiran was aggressively marketed by its producer Sun Pictures and it reaped the benefits in the form of profits. This Rajinikanth-starrer was marketed so heavily that Tamil films have now been put on the global map.Vijay’s Kaavalan has been lapped up for a record price by an overseas distributor though his earlier film did not do well. Then Manmadhan Ambu, which is again gearing up for an audio launch in Singapore, will be lapped up by overseas distributors without a second thought as it is Kamal Haasan in the lead.Several producers opine that Tamil films are now being recognized in the global market thanks to the aggressively marketed Endhiran

Not One Less
Not One Less is a 1999 drama film by Chinese director Zhang Yimou (pictured), adapted from Shi Xiangsheng's 1997 story "A Sun in the Sky." Set in the People's Republic of China during the 1990s, the film centers on a 13-year-old substitute teacher, Wei Minzhi, in the Chinese countryside. Called in to substitute for a village teacher for one month, Wei is told not to lose any students. When one of the boys takes off in search of work in the big city, she goes looking for him. The film addresses education reform in China, the economic gap between urban and rural populations, and the prevalence of bureaucracy and authority figures in everyday life. It is filmed in a neorealist/documentary style with a troupe of non-professional actors who play characters with the same names and occupations as the actors have in real life, blurring the boundaries between drama and reality. Internationally, the film was generally well-received, but it also attracted criticism for its ostensibly political message. When the film was excluded from the 1999 Cannes Film Festival's competition section, Zhang withdrew it and another film from the festival, and published a letter rebuking Cannes for politicization of and "discrimination" against Chinese cinema.

Ficus aurea
Ficus aurea is a tree in the family Moraceae that is native to Florida, the northern and western Caribbean, southern Mexico and Central America south to Panama. The specific epithet aurea was coined by English botanist Thomas Nuttall who described the species in 1846; older names applied to this species have been ruled invalid. Ficus aurea is a strangler fig; seed germination usually takes place in the canopy of a host tree and the seedling lives as an epiphyte until its roots establish contact with the ground. It then enlarges and strangles its host, eventually becoming a freestanding tree in its own right. Individuals may reach 30 m (100 ft) in height. Like all figs, it has an obligate mutualism with fig wasps; figs are only pollinated by fig wasps, and fig wasps can only reproduce in fig flowers. The tree provides habitat, food and shelter for a host of tropical lifeforms including epiphytes in cloud forests and birds, mammals, reptiles and invertebrates. F. aurea is used in traditional medicine, for live fencing, as an ornamental and as a bonsai

DMDK closer to AIADMK
In the first step towards forging an alliance with the AIADMK, the DMDK moved closer to the AIADMK led front by agreeing to be a part of the agitation in support of Foxconn and Neyveli Lignite Corporation (NLC) workers. An invitation was extended to DMDK founder Vijayakanth to join the agitation”, said CPM state secretary G. Ramakrishnan on Thursday, while addressing a demonstration jointly organized by Communist parties. He said that one of the top DMDK leaders Panruti Ramachandran told him over phone that Vijayakanth could not make it to the stir as the invitation reached him very late. But Ramakrishnan claimed that Panruti Ramachandran conveyed his party chief's support to the demonstration. The support to the striking workers leads to the belief that the DMDK, which was singing the song that it would go all alone in the elections, now agrees to be on the same page with the AIADMK, MDMK and Left parties and this could be an attempt to explore possibilities for a future alliance for the State elections.

Jaya in Madurai
Jaya complained that the Police Intelligence Chief Jaffer Sait had alerted the Chief Minister and Alagiri that if 4,000 vehicles enter Madurai, it would witness an unprecedented crowd and soon a conspiracy was hatched and vehicles carrying my party members were stopped 35 km before Madurai. She said that she had received these reports only after reaching Madurai on October 18. She alleged that noticing 4,000 vehicles pass the Tiruchy toll plaza towards Madurai within an hour, all hotels and teashops were ordered to be shut down so that those turning up for the rally could not get even drinking water. She recalled that Karunanidhi’s protest rallies were neither prevented nor hurdles imposed when she was the CM and also during M.G. Ramachandran’s regime whereas Karunanidhi had indulged in an anti-democratic act.

Oktoberfest
Oktoberfest is a 16-day to 18-day festival held each year in Munich, Bavaria, Germany, running from late September to the first October week-end. It is one of the most famous events in Germany and the world's largest fair, with some six million people attending every year. The Oktoberfest is an important part of Bavarian culture. Other cities across the world also hold Oktoberfest celebrations, modeled after the Munich event.
The Munich Oktoberfest, traditionally, takes place during the sixteen days up to and including the first Sunday in October. In 1994, the schedule was modified in response to German reunification so that if the first Sunday in October falls on the 1st or 2nd, then the festival will go on until October 3 (German Unity Day). Thus, the festival is now 17 days when the 1st Sunday is October 2 and 18 days when it is October 1. In 2010, the festival lasts exceptionally until the first October Monday, to mark the 200 year jubilee of the event. The festival is held on an area named the Theresienwiese (field, or meadow, of Therese), often called Wiesn for short, which is located near Munich's centre South East of the main train station.

Science fiction magazine
If was an American science fiction magazine launched in March 1952 by Quinn Publications, owned by James L. Quinn. After a series of editors, including Paul W. Fairman, Larry T. Shaw, and Damon Knight, Quinn sold the magazine to Robert Guinn at Galaxy Publishing and in 1961 Frederik Pohl became editor. Under Pohl, If won the Hugo Award for best professional magazine three years running from 1966 to 1968. In 1969 Guinn sold all his magazines to Universal Publishing and Distribution (UPD). The magazine was not as successful with Ejler Jakobsson as editor and circulation plummeted. In early 1974 Jim Baen took over from Jakobsson as editor, but increasing paper costs meant that UPD could no longer afford to publish both Galaxy and If. Galaxy was regarded as the senior of the two magazines, so If was merged into Galaxy after the December 1974 issue, its 175th issue overall. Over its 22 years, If published many award-winning stories, including Robert A. Heinlein's novel The Moon Is a Harsh Mistress, and Harlan Ellison's short story "I Have No Mouth and I Must Scream". Several well-known writers sold their first story to If; the most successful was Larry Niven, whose story "The Coldest Place" appeared in the December 1964 issue

Corruption in two wheeler license issue
Most people in Tamil Nadu apply for a license through a driving school and avoid the written or on-line test. Surprisingly the application form also is filled by a driving school instructor.Almost all the applicants pay money to a driving school, visit the regional transport office to sign the register and get their learner's license. Driving schools should not be allowed to interfere in the application process”. Sivakumar, a motorist, who got the license recently, said that anyone can get license easily without even appearing for the test if he/she is an influential person or ready to give bribe.Conducting a driving test in city like Chennai is very difficult due to shortage of adequate land for it. Insufficient motor vehicle inspectors are another big headache, said an RTO employee.

1984 Rajneeshee bioterror attack
The 1984 Rajneeshee bioterror attack was the food poisoning of more than 750 individuals in The Dalles, Oregon, United States through the deliberate contamination of salad bars at ten local restaurants with salmonella. A leading group of followers of Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh (now known as Osho) had hoped to incapacitate the voting population of the city so that their own candidates would win the 1984 Wasco County elections. The incident was the first bioterrorism attack in the United States, and the single largest bioterrorist attack in United States history. The attack is one of only two confirmed terrorist uses of biological weapons to harm humans. Having previously gained political control of Antelope, Oregon, Rajneesh's followers based in nearby Rajneeshpuram sought election to two of the three seats on the Wasco County Circuit Court which were up for election in November 1984. Fearing they would not gain enough votes, Rajneeshpuram officials decided to incapacitate voters in The Dalles, the largest population center in Wasco County

Broadheads
Broadheads were used for war and are still used for hunting. Medieval broadheads could be made from steel, sometimes with hardened edges. They usually have two to four sharp blades that cause massive bleeding in the victim. Their function is to deliver a wide cutting edge so as to kill as quickly as possible. They are expensive, damage most targets, and are usually not used for practice. While the A Broadhead tip fixed-blade broadhead keeps its blades rigid and unmovable on the broadhead at all times, the mechanical broadhead deploys its blades upon contact with the target, its blades swinging out to wound the target. The mechanical head flies better because it is more streamlined, but has less penetration as it uses some of the kinetic energy in the arrow to deploy its blades

Bodkin
Bodkin points are short, rigid points with a small cross-section. They were made of unhardened iron and may have been used for better or longer flight, or for cheaper production. It has been mistakenly suggested that the bodkin came into its own as a means of penetrating armour, but research has found no hardened bodkin points, so it is likely that it was first designed either to extend range or as a cheaper and simpler alternative to the broadhead. In a modern test, a direct hit from a hard steel bodkin point penetrated Damascus chain armour. However, archery was not effective against plate armour, which became available to knights of fairly modest means by the late 14th century.Blunts are unsharpened arrowheads occasionally used for types of target shooting, for shooting at stumps or other targets of opportunity, or hunting small game when the goal is to stun the target without penetration. Blunts are commonly made of metal or hard rubber. They may stun, and occasionally, the arrow shaft may penetrate the head and the target; safety is still important with blunt arrows.

Stone Age
In the Stone age, people used sharpened or flintknapped stones, flakes, and chips of rock as weapons and tools. Such items remained in use throughout human civilization, with new materials used as time passed. As archaeological artifacts such objects are classed as projectile points.Such artifacts can be found all over the world. Archaeologically they are usually made of stone, primarily being flint, obsidian, or cherts; however in many excavations bone, wooden and metal arrowheads have been found. In August 2010, a report on stone point arrowheads dating back 64,000 years excavated from layers of ancient sediment in Sibudu Cave, South Africa, by a team of scientists from the University of the Witwatersrand, was published. Examinations led by a team from the University of Johannesburg found traces of blood and bone residues, and glue made from a plant-based resin that was used to fasten them on to a wooden shaft. According to the researchers, "Hunting with a bow and arrow requires intricate multi-staged planning, material collection and tool preparation and implies a range of innovative social and communication skills." The findings also indicated "cognitively demanding behavior" in humans sixty to seventy thousand years ago.

Stalin and Azhagiri
Union Chemicals and Fertilizers Minister Mr. Alagiri waited for his younger brother and Deputy Chief Minister of TN for more than half-an-hour at the Delhi airport to receive his younger brother when he flew to the Capital Thursday night to attend the National Development Council meet. And the incident has surprised several top brass in the party.
Mr. Alagiri who was all the while against his younger brother taking on the mantle from their father CM M Karunanidhi the next morning, down to Tamil Nadu House, where Mr Stalin was staying, and was closeted with him for more than an hour. Their sister and Rajya Sabha MP Kanimozhi was present during the meeting, during which they discussed several issues, an insider said.
Though Mr Stalin has been soft towards his elder brother, Mr Alagiri had often signaled disapproval at his sibling being projected as the prince-in-waiting. Their differences came to the fore when Mr Alagiri recently threw his hat in the ring for the post of DMK president. But, Mr St-alin kept mum and refused to add fuel to the controversy.
Mr Alagiri’s climbdown is widely interpreted as a change of heart in accepting his brother as his future le-ader. “We are all happy that the issue is settled smoothly. A senior DMK MP said all we want is that there should be no misunderstanding between the two.”

Bloody Sunday
Bloody Sunday —sometimes called the Bogside Massacre—was an incident on 30 January 1972 in the Bogside area of Derry,Northern Ireland, in which twenty-six unarmed civil rights protesters or bystanders were shot by the British Army Parachute Regiment during a Northern Ireland Civil Rights Association march. Thirteen men, seven of whom were teenagers, died immediately or soon after, while the death of another man four and a half months later has been attributed to the injuries he received on that day. Two protesters were injured when they were run down by army vehicles. The report of the Saville Inquiry, which has been accepted by the British government, found that all of those shot were unarmed, and that the killings were "unjustified and unjustifiable." Five of those wounded were shot in the back.
Two investigations have been held by the British Government. The Widgery Tribunal, held in the immediate aftermath of the event, largely cleared the soldiers and British authorities of blame—Widgery described the soldiers' shooting as "bordering on the reckless"—but was criticised as a "whitewash",including by Jonathan Powell, chief of staff to former prime minister Tony Blair. The Saville Inquiry, established in 1998 to look at the events again (chaired by Lord Saville of Newdigate) was made public on 15 June 2010, and contained findings of fault that could re-open the controversy, and potentially lead to criminal investigations for some soldiers involved in the killings.

Robert Hues (1553–1632) was an English mathematician and geographer who made observations of the variations of the compass off the coast of Newfoundland. He either went there on a fishing trip, or joined a 1585 voyage to Virginia arranged by Walter Raleigh and led by Richard Grenville which passed Newfoundland on the return journey to England. Between 1586 and 1588, Hues travelled with Thomas Cavendish on a circumnavigation of the globe, taking the opportunity to measure latitudes. In 1589, Hues went on the Earl of Cumberland's raiding expedition to the Azores to capture Spanish galleons. Beginning in August 1591, Hues travelled with Cavendish again, intending to complete another circumnavigation of the globe

Edwin P. Morrow
Edwin P. Morrow (1877–1935) served as the 40th Governor of Kentucky from 1919 to 1923. He was the only Republican elected to this office between 1907 and 1927. After rendering non-combat service in the Spanish–American War, Morrow graduated from the University of Cincinnati Law School in 1902 and opened his practice in Lexington, Kentucky. He was appointed United States Attorney for the Eastern District of Kentucky by President William Howard Taft in 1910 and served until he was removed from office in 1913 by President Woodrow Wilson. In 1915, he ran for governor against his good friend, Augustus O. Stanley. Stanley won the election by 471 votes, making the 1915 contest the closest gubernatorial race in the state's history. Morrow ran for governor again in 1919. He encouraged voters to "Right the Wrong of 1915" and ran on a progressive platform that included women's suffrage and quelling racial violence. He charged the Democratic administration with corruption, citing specific examples, and won the general election in a landslide. With a friendly legislature in 1920, he passed much of his agenda into law including an anti-lynching law and a reorganization of state government. By 1922, Democrats regained control of the General Assembly, and Morrow was not able to accomplish much in the second half of his term. Following his term as governor, he served on the United States Railroad Labor Board and the Railway Mediation Board
