Actor Mohanlal will be conferred the honorary Lieutenant Colonel title by the Indian Government. According to the sources close to the Malayalam film industry, the Defense Minister A.K. Anthony has already given his assent but the final word from the President of India and the Prime Minister is awaited. However, Mohanlal will not be the first to get this distinction because cricketer Kapil Dev was also honored with an honorary Lieutenant Colonel title a few years ago.
